Beware ! This is a post only about one of my favorite writer, Jane Austen :)

I can't wait to see the new fiction drama about Jane Austen, called Miss Austen Regrets. I hope I will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed Becoming Jane. I know it's not based on biographical facts but I don't care. I'll like it if it captures the Jane Austen' s spirit, wit and charm :)
BBC doesn't give a lof of informations about this new television film. It must have been broadcast during the Christmas holiday but finally, it won't be ...
You can view how actress Olivia Williams looks like as Jane Austen behind the cut. I found only 3 promo pics.

And some infos :
Olivia Williams, Greta Scacchi, Hugh Bonneville, Phyllida Law and Adrian Edmondson star in Gwyneth Hughes's Miss Austen Regrets. Based on the life and letters of Jane Austen, it tells the story of the novelist's final years examining why, despite setting the standard for romantic fiction, she died having never married or met her own Mr Darcy.
As she approaches her 40th birthday Jane appears happily unmarried, displaying all the assured wit and charm of her novels' young heroines. Yet, when asked by her young niece, Fanny, to help her vet potential husbands, Jane's confident composure is threatened as she finds herself looking back on her own potential suitors and the choices she has made.
A chance meeting with a former acquaintance, Rev Brook Bridges, sees her reflect on a marriage that never was, while, when her family faces financial ruin, it is revealed that it all could have been very different had she only accepted a marriage proposal from a wealthy landowner. And when her brother, Henry, is taken ill Jane's passions are ignited by his handsome young physician.
The cast also features Imogen Poots and Jack Huston.

In other news, I'm also interested in Lost in Austen, a ITV modern fiction dealing with the Jane Austen's world
Lost in Austen, made by Mammoth Screen, hopes to capitalise on the appeal of the Jane Austen adaptations lined up for spring on ITV. The light-hearted drama follows an Austen fan as she magically switches places with Pride and Prejudice character Elizabeth Bennett, and has to survive in late 18th century England.
I hope the script will be good and entertaining

Behind the cut, you'll se who will be the "new" Lizzy and the "new" Darcy :)

My livejournal updates are getting more and more rare. I wish I can  find more time and motivation to post ^^ I'll try to update almost every day now. I guess it's the better way to get me  interested in my LJ as much as I was before^^

To my f-list, I feel so sorry for not having commented your entries lately, I'll try to catch up with all that stuff  :o)

So new icon! I saw the new  Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey adaptation for ITV and I just fell in love with it. It's just so incredibly pretty, lovely, charming and funny. I think Andrew Davies (who also wrote the script of Pride & Prejudice 95 with Colin Firth & Jennifer Ehle - my all time favorite period drama!) made an awesome job, he captured the novel's irony and charm so well. And the casting is just amazing! You have to see it ! :D

Like I said, I've been to the book convention  in Paris (called "Salon du livre" here) and I bought some pretty good novels and even get some author's autographs too :)

I saw Meg Babot and had her sign my copy of Boy meets girl. The waiting line was so loooong, there were a lot of teenagers with their copy of the new Princess Diary. When it was our turn, she was quite surprised to see this book. She only signed Princess Diary and Queen of Bable until that^^ Meg Cabot is a vey pretty woman. She also seems very kind and smile a lot. I love that she kept saying "Bonjour! Comment tu t'appelles?" with her american accent^^ She also wore a lovely princess' crown during all the signing LOL. She arrived earlier so she was able to sign a lot more!
We had to write our name on a paper since she's not familiar with french names and I told her the book's title I brought to her since she doesn't know the french covers. It's hard to find good things to tell so I just said that I totally loved this book and that I need to read more of her work now. She answered that she's always glad to hear these kind of things.
I also bought this book and had the author sign too. I recommand you Sixth grade by her, which is a very popular novel here :)
I bought  this novel too (its author wrote one of the most popular contemporary novel ever : a bag of marbles  (a touching story dealing with children caught in the whirlwind of World War II).
I bought this novel. I found the cover so pretty and the story lovely too. It deals with a lovestory between 2 teens in Perpignan (city in the south of France) I also had a signed copy from one of my favorite writers ever: Nancy Huston (Instruments of Darkness).

I'm glad to live in Paris so I can go to these amazing conventions. In Autumn, there will be a children litterature special one! I can't wait :)

In other news, I just made some various fandoms icons (BTVS, HP, Jane Austen's adaptations, french movies etc). I will post them here very soon!

GIP! Audrey Tautou & Guillaume Canet in the soon-to-be-released movie "Ensemble c'est tout".

First of all, I would like to wish a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my great american pal [info]shannigansx. I hope you had a wonderful day!!! I also wish your back doesn't hurt anymore!

And I also would like to thank [info]lepapillon for the lovely bookmarks she sent me. I love them all! I can't believe I own a bookmark from Florida (plus, Venice seems to be such a beautiful place!). Did you receive mines?

You must already know I'm fond of the english author Jane Austen. I love all her novels, I think she has an amazing style, and her novels have all great storylines. I also really enjoy watching movie and tv adaptations of her work. My all-time favorite is the 95's BBC version of "Pride &Prejudice" starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. The english channel ITV will broadcast 3 all new adaptations : Persuasion (with a quite handsome Wentworth), Mansfield Park (with Billie Piper) and Northanger Abbey (I read the book recently and I absolutely loved it). You can view the trailer of the 3 movies on the official website here: http://janeausten.itv.com/jane_austen_season.html#. The layout shows us how the main characters look like :)

too bad I didn't find the time to talk about the Oscars... Maybe I will make a related post very soon. I just need to organize my thoughts :) I'll probably talk about the Cesars too (french equivalent)

I'll also make a "books read in 2007" post for sure too! I love making lists!

I just bought the last The Shins album (called "Wincing the night away") and can't stop listening to it. Their songs have such great melodies...

God, I need to sleep more. I have to go to bed earlier...

Hello!

GIP! I suppose this is a Christmas icon ;o)

Christmas in a bit less than 3 days, I can't believe it! I still have some gifts to pack, I must admit that I'm kind of clumsy, I will try to do my best so they will not look too ugly^^

Thanks to [info]lepapillon , [info]shannigansx and [info]wistful_memory for their cards! You'll probably receive mine very soon or perhaps you already get it...
To answer your question, wistful_memory, we don't really have Chistmas movies in France. I guess we don't have this tradition here. However, I'll recommand you the movie "Joyeux Noël" which was released last year. You can see what it deals with at the imdb site here. It's a beautiful and touching movie based on historical facts :)

- I already received 2 awesome christmas gifts by a very good friend of mine. She gave me the "Léon" dvd (one of my favorite movies ever!) and  a Jane Austen's biography by Claire Tomalin (surely the best written). You can see what the english edition looks like here. It's very interesting and intense. If you love Jane Austen, don't hesitate to look at it, it's full of informations about her life, personnality, family and inspirations.

Speaking of Jane Austen, this movie about her life, starring Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy, looks really promising!

This poster is gorgeous but it looks like the "Pride & Prejudice" (2005) poster a lot, doesn't it? However, I love it!!

I'll make a post about movies that I really can't wait to see in 2007 very soon :)
